Our Beginning

Established in 2016 by Connecticut native entrepreneur & entertainer Peter Vouras and his partner Salem, Freskos was the answer to a question they could not satisfy with any option available at the time: where can we find local fresh, fast, authentic Greek food in an inviting, refreshing, Greek island atmosphere?

Our Background

Combining the restauranteurship in his blood—both his grandfathers owned beloved restaurants in Hartford and Meriden for most of the 20th Century—with experience gained from his prior success with Shelton’s Huntington Street Café, adding his Yia-Yia’s recipes, his parents’ merakí (soul-invested passion) and sense of filótimo (paying it forward), and Salem’s aesthetic eye, discerning guidance and business skills from her music industry background, Freskos quickly became a go-to spot in Hamden.

Our Future

Eight years later, with multiple awards from Readers’ Polls in New Haven and CT Magazine, and honored for civic contributions by the Hamden Chamber of Commerce, Freskos is thriving and expanding with a new Freskos Food Truck and other exciting developments to come.
